TECH TIP - Seldom Used
Keyboard Shortcuts.
As some of you know, keyboard shortcuts are my thing.
Whenever I can, I use a keyboard instead of using the mouse. Here's just a
few my favorite seldom used shortcuts I haven't referred to previously. Try
them out!
Internet Explorer: Press CTRL-R or CTRL-F5 to refresh a
website.
Internet Explorer: CTRL-I to open up your Links in the right pane. (CTRL-I
also closes it).
Internet Explorer: Press ALT-D to select (highlight) the URL (website
address) so that you can type in a new one,
Internet Explorer: Press CTRL-D to add the current page to MY
FAVORITES. (You got to try this one - cool!)
Any Program: Press the Home key to move the cursor to the
beginning of a line.
Any Program: Press the End key to move the cursor to the end of
a line.
Any Program: Hold down the Shift Key when you insert a CD.
This will prevent a CD from doing the Auto-Run. (Sometimes
Auto-Run is such a pain!)
At the Desktop: Click on a file or folder - then press F2 to re-name
the file (or folder).
At the Desktop: ALT-Enter: Click on a file or folder - then press
ALT-Enter to go to the Properties.
In Forms: When filling out a form on the internet or in Word, use the TAB
key to move forward from filed to field. Use the Shift-Tab to move
backwards from field to field.
