Tech Tip: Send a Free Fax from your computer. Ever messed with the Fax Software that comes pre-installed on your computer. It usually takes a several hours to set it up and learn how to get it to work. And then it still might not work. Now you can send a fax of a file on your computer to any fax machine in the US (including Puerto Rico) and Canada for free. It’s quick and easy. There is nothing to learn.
There are several websites that allow you to do this – but, beware. Most say they are free but require you to put in a credit card number for a “free trial account.” There is a site that is really free with no strings attached. You can send up to 2 faxes a day, with a maximum of 3 pages per fax – free! No credit card is required and no trial account is required.
If you want to send more than 2 faxes in a day, or you want to send more than 3 pages per fax, you can use their premium fax feature and pay $1.79 through Pay Pal.
OK – so what is the catch? If you use the free fax, your fax will include an advertisement on the cover page. The service is free, like many services on the internet, because it is ad-driven. This is a small price to pay for being able to send free faxes (who reads the cover page of a fax anyways?).
Some other things to be aware of:
Give it a try – go to http://faxzero.com/ and send a fax. For more information, be sure to read the FAQ on their web page. It’s the link at the top of the screen.
